The city of Krakow could be reached by plane, train, bus and car. It is served by an international airport situated some ten kilometers west of the city, which is serviced by direct trains to the main railway station in Krakow on every twenty minutes. Once in the city, there are plenty of ways to get around. Krakow has an efficient network of bus lines and tramways, plus many minibus operators. The bus and tram lines cover the entire city. Tickets are to be bought before getting into the vehicle.
From Krakow one could reach most of the cities in Poland, while the trains to the capital Warsaw are on every hour. There are also connections to many international destinations such as Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Kiev, etc.

The city center is not a good area for driving, since usually there is a lot of traffic and the parking spaces are not many. Instead, better take a taxi as this service is cheap. The price list is usually placed on the side door of the passenger. The rent-a-car option is also worth the try, since there are many companies offering that service and the prices are affordable.

The largest railway station in Krakow, Krakow Central is operating since the fall of 1847 and was enlarged several times since then. In recent years the station got a new transport interchange with an express tram line and a coach station, plus a new shopping center. The station offers rail connections to many cities in Poland, where the trains to the capital Warsaw leave on every hour. There are direct connections to international destinations such as Budapest, Berlin and Prague, Kiev and Lvov, as well as Odessa in summer. The railway station is set outside the district of the Old Town and is served by the public transport in the city.

Krakow International Airport named John Paul II is located ten kilometers west from the city of Krakow itself. The airport is the second largest in the country and is operated by two terminals (an international and national one) and offers connections to almost sixty destinations. The airport is connected to the city with direct trains to the main railway station Krakow Glowny and the trip lasts for fifteen minutes.

Hiring a bicycle is a nice way to get to know the city of Krakow and there are many special bike lanes. A cheap place to rent a bike would be by the Old Synagogue in Kazimierz. Slightly more expensive would be to rent Segway. No bikes are available during the winter season.

A pleasant way to get to know Krakow is by walking. Tourists are welcome to see the entire city center without need of transport. There are many nice areas for walking, especially along the Planty Park or the Royal Way. Walking tours are also available and the guides are good.
